Go Tell It at the Quilt Show! Findlay Wolfe, Gering and Knauer Interviews
Seven new interviews for the Go Tell It at the Quilt Show! project were conducted at QuiltCon in Austin, Texas, February 21-24. Go Tell It! is a new Quilt Alliance project designed to capture the stories of quilts where quiltmakers and quilt lovers gather. The protocol for Go Tell It! is brief and personal: one person talking about one quilt in front of one video camera for three minutes, recording the most essential and compelling details of the quilt according to the “teller.”
We were so proud to document and preserve stories from Victoria Findlay Wolfe, Jacquie Gering and Thomas Knauer at the first-ever QuiltCon. Read the full press release here.

Gorgeous quilts! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Margarita!
LOVED the videos! So nice to hear the story behind the creation… I’ve often seen exquisitely made quilts and wondered what sparked a quilter to design such a masterpiece. Especially true of modern or contemporary quilts which often tell a story such as BANG and the UPC CODE. I never would have known the WHY behind the work without the video. I wish there had been a close up of the winning quilt. From a distance it doesn’t even appear esthetically pleasing and I couldn’t figure out what the creator was talking about regarding her use of fabric. I am sure it is stunning but I didn’t get that in the video. Your idea for 3 minutes of one person speaking is great! LOVE THE CONCEPT! Give us more, please!!!
Kathy, thank you so much for writing and really glad to hear you like the Go Tell It model. All three of these quilts are stunners–up close and from afar. I’ll see if I can get a detail shot from Victoria on her quilt. More GTI videos coming soon!
There’s also a typo in Victoria’s video. The date should be 2013.
Thanks, Quiltchicken!!
I think this is a very valuable and well done feature. I really enjoyed watching the quilters discuss their quilts.
Thank you, Lesley! It’s exciting to listen in person as we’re taping and then get to listen closer via video. I’m so looking forward to the growth of this project.
Thanks for the terrific videos. Love hearing the background on how these quilts were born. Kudos to their vision and passion. Looking forward to more profound videos.
Thank you, Cindy!!
