Artist’s Statement

My grandmother, a quilter, always had a statue of Mary in her garden surrounded by a bathtub as her shrine. Grandma was serious about her religion, but never took herself too seriously and had a great sense of humor. So I associate the image of MARY with very fond memories of her. To capture that, I figured, one must have a “Quilted Mary.” Why not! Wink!
