On this day in 1787, Pennsylvania became the second state of the Union to ratify the U.S. Constitution. At the time one-third of Pennsylvania’s population was German-speaking, so the Constitution was printed in that language to engage these citizens in the debate.
This striking tan, cream and red quilt is titled “Nonsuch,” and was made by Bessie Moyer, a German Protestant schoolteacher, between 1876-1900. The owner, Moyer’s great niece, documented the quilt during the Western Pennsylvania Quilt Documentation Project in 2010. Don’t miss using the zoom tool on this quilt

What a wonderful MODERN quilt!!
I gave my sister the link to the Quilt Index. She hadn’t heard of it, but had a quilt that was photoed and indexed for Illinois. I told her likely it is part of the big index. Thanks for the project. It’s such a wonderful resource!

I don’t have the URL for it. It is an early-1970s wedding ring quilt with white background. She and her husband received it as a gift when they were married in 1976. It was purchased by the giver, not made by them.
